Accomplishments 7 Collaborations

The Proveedoras Unidas Association has worked to increase access to high-quality ECE in our community by:

  • Supporting member providers to accomplish national accreditation and thereby achieve 4- or 5-star YoungStar ratings through the 4C For Children-led Accreditation Facilitation Project;
  • Investing in high-quality curriculum materials and implementation training;
  • Working with UW-Whitewater to develop and launch a bilingual ECE Bachelor’s Degree program; 
  • Developing a Spanish-language marketing campaign to recruit new individuals into the ECE workforce; and 
  • Advocating local and state policymakers for investment and support in the ECE sector. 
  • Since 2019, we have created and organized training based on the needs of our members every month in Spanish. We have offered 25 training sessions in Spanish that included topics about high-quality practices, taxes, policies and contracts, organization, advocacy, grants organization, updates, rules changes, child’s portfolio, computer skills, assessments, and healthy habits.
  • Since 2019, we have created documents in Spanish, such as contracts, policies, handbooks, employee handbooks, communication letters to families, spreadsheets to keep track of grants and how funds were used, calendars to keep date lines of the to-do tasks of all the organizations that work directly with the daycare programs. This calendar helps programs organize the necessary documentation to prevent audits and promote professional practices.
  • In 2020, We received $40,000 for an air purifying grant from GMF and purchased 34 air purifiers and filters for 34 childcare programs.
  • Since 2020, We have helped educators apply for scholarships when available. We send them messages and communicate by messenger, text, phone, and email.
  • Since 2020, We have created a messenger chat where educators are informed about important information or opportunities related to Early Education through email, text, messenger, and phone calls. Eighty-nine educators participated and received this information in spanish.
  • Since 2020, we collaborate with nine ECE committees. At those committee meetings, we advocate for the needs of our Latino colleagues, that is, cultural and Spanish language. Above all, all opportunities available are shared equally with everyone.
  • 2021, We collaborate with the Milwaukee Diaper Mission. Now Milwaukee’s daycares receive free diapers and wipes for the children who attend their daycare Programs. In 2022, Milwaukee Diaper Mission provided 42,553 diapers and 1,043 packs of wipes. 
  • In 2021 Advocacy letters were translated into a simple way for educators to advocate for ECE and share the information with the families they work with.
  • In the last year, 2022, two hundred forty-four emails of resources, updates, scholarships, and opportunities were translated so that educators receive the help they need in Spanish.
  • Since 2022, We have created a monthly calendar of events in Spanish, including events, assignments, tasks from ECE organizations, scholarship applications, due dates, links to stipends, CCC application dates, deadlines to use funds, and events supporting families and the ECE profession.
  • In 2022, we offered 127 in-person coachings, 54 virtually, and made over 600 calls yearly to communicate opportunities, clarify doubts, and provide technical support to Wisconsin’s Spanish language ECE educators. During these calls, we collect information about the challenges of Latino educators.
  • Since 2022, we have advocated and helped communicate with the Department of Children and Families staff to assist our colleagues with their needs.
  • In the year 2022, five of our colleagues increased the Youngstar rate of their daycare programs.
  • Last two years, 2021 and 2022, we have successfully helped six family childcare programs open their family daycares program.
  • In 2022, We collaborate and support the translation of an accreditation Facilitation Project, so more Latino educators can participate in increasing the
